Halton Libraries were kind enough to let MARA share their tent at the Halton Show on the 19th July 2003 and MARA thank Halton Libraries for their generosity.    We set up a water dowsing experiment to test people's ability at water dowsing and a psychokinesis experiment were the public were asked to move small objects using only the power of their mind.  As expected, nobody had any success with the psychokinesis experiment, but we found one man who had an uncanny ability to dowse for water without the use of rods.  In fact he only used a single hand to find the water.  The experiment consisted of 3 boxes and only one had a 3 litre bottle of water in it.  The others were empty.  By moving his hand a few inches over the 3 boxes, he could make his index finger twitch upwards when there was water present and twitch downwards when there was no water present.  Each experiment took a couple of minutes so we only tried this 3 times, but he consistently picked the correct box with water in, on all 3 occasions.  The chance of doing this by chance is 27 to 1.  I am convinced that it wasn't just luck.

We had many interesting conversations with the general public at the stand and we would like to thank the public for their interest.

At the show MARA were filmed by the BBC for a documentary on the BBC programme called "Inside Out" which is to be aired at the beginning of September. In one of the pictures below you can see the Lord Mayor of Halton talking about UFOs at the MARA stand while being filmed by the BBC.  The two remaining pictures show MARA members at the stand and a young paranormal investigator trying his hand at water dowsing.
